Pete Buttigieg is the Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, is a member of the Democratic Party and is running in the 2020 Election for President of the United States. He is married to Chasten Glezman Buttigieg[1]. He was born January 19th, 1982 in South Bend Indiana to Joseph Buttigieg and Jennifer Ann Montgomery. his grandfather was John Montgomery, a U.S. Army doctor who served as a surgeon at Fort Bliss in El Paso, while his grandmother, Zoe Ann Neal Montgomery, was an accomplished musician.

Pete attended Stanley Clark School, St. Joseph High School and Harvard University where he majored in History and Literature. At Harvard, he was part of the Institute of Politics for all four years and was president his senior year.[1] He was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship and studied at University of Oxford where he was in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics) program. He won the John F Kennedy Presidential Library’s Profile in Courage Award with an essay on Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. In 2000, he volunteered for the Gore campaign, and in 2004 he volunteered for President Obama's reelection bid. He was a delegate for Secretary Hillary Clinton in 2016 and a supporter of her campaign. He served as a US Navy Reserve Officer from 2009-2017 and took an unpaid leave as Mayor of South Bend to deploy in Afghanistan for seven months. his most recent publication is The Shortest Way Home: One Mayor’s Challenge and a Model for America’s Future.
